Chair yoga – the safe and fun way to stay fit and flexible

Villageyoga.ie founder Sinéad Garry is passionate about getting people of all ages and abilities moving.

Offering popular morning Chair yoga classes in Ballyneety and in Castletroy, she is hoping to bring Chair yoga to every neighbourhood in Limerick. Chair yoga is a safe way to exercise. Most of the class is practiced while seated with optional standing poses.

“You would be amazed at what you can do in a chair,” says Sinéad.

“The more we move, the more capable we are of moving. Every system in the body is energised by motion.  As we age, we need to keep moving because if you don’t use it – you lose it. The Chair yoga morning class is a nice way to start the day.”

Village Yoga is also offering yoga and pilates classes on the mat for beginners and intermediate levels.

“We run all year long except for July and August, so you can drop in when suits – we don’t do set blocks of classes, we find this flexibility works well.”

“Pilates and yoga are safe ways to exercise and get strong from the inside out. More and more physiotherapists are recommending pilates for back injury rehabilitation and injury prevention. Yoga is a great way to stay fit but even better to help us  unwind and connect with a deeper sense of self,” she added.

Those looking to bring chair yoga to their neighbourhood or office can contact Sinéad at villageyogalimerick@gmail.com or phone 087 9711007
