TWO MEN charged in connection with the death of a County Limerick man appeared in court this morning.
Dylan McCarthy (29) from Kilmallock sustained fatal injuries after an altercation in a pub in Monasterevin, Co Kildare, on August 21 of last year.
Mr McCarthy, who was a talented sportsman, had travelled to the Kildare town to celebrate the birth of his nephew and godson.
Calvin Dunne, 23, from Abbey View in Monasterevin and 24-year-old Sean Kavanagh, St Mary’s Lane in Monasterevin appeared before Naas District court this morning charged with murder.
Both men are also charged with public disorder, while Mr Kavanagh faces a third charge of assault causing harm to Mr McCarthy.
Solicitors for the accused men raised concerns about details of the events being put into the public domain today.
Judge Desmond Zaidan said these are allegations at this time and the men are presumed innocent.
The judge said he will not be told what his functions are as he is “not a sitting duck”.
The two accused men were remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear before Naas District Court again this Thursday.
