Joyce bags a brace for champions Richmond

Richmond players, mentors and supporters with the Munster Junior League trophy.

MUNSTER Junior League champions Richmond finished their campaign with a 38-24 defeat at home to Clonakilty. 

Captain Darragh Joyce crossed for a brace of tries, and there was one each for Conor McMahon and Keelan Stephenson.

Eoin Downey kicked four penalties, along with three conversions. 

Brendan Foley of the Munster Junior Branch presented the trophy to a delighted Joyce. 

Elsewhere, Abbeyfeale and Thomond played out a 14-14 draw. Daniel Leahy and Michael Kilbridge scored tries for Abbeyfeale and Sean Kilbridge converted both. Luke Costelloe and Jack Cosgrave were Thomond’s try scorers and Jason King added the extras each time.

Galbally-Mitchelstown defeated Youghal at the east Cork venue 26-0 to clinch Section B of the Junior League. Brendan Childs, Sean Coughlan, Pat O’Donoghue, and Davy Sheehan scored tries for Galbally-Mitchelstown. John Kearns kicked one conversion, and Pat Shannahan two.

Shannon defeated UCC 21-14 to win the Donal Walsh U20 trophy at Tralee. James O’Brien and Cillian Coakley scored tries for Shannon and Rory O’Gorman kicked a conversion and three penalties.

UL Bohemian won the Donal Walsh U20 Plate Final with a 20-19 victory over Young Munster.
