Limerick couple died 25 hours apart after 70 years together

A LIMERICK City couple, who died just 25 hours apart after 70 years together, were laid to rest on Monday.

Terence (Terry) Byrnes and his wife Maureen (Mary) of Mungret Court, Watergate died at Millbrae Lodge Nursing Home in Newport last week.

Their death notice published on RIP.ie stated that they died peacefully after 70 years of “loving friendship and devotion to each other”.

One of many online messages of condolence read, “to love each other so much that they couldn’t be apart and now forever together. May they rest in peace.

The couple are survived by their children, Mary (Madden), Ger, Margaret (O’Neill-Clancy), Dianne (O’Sullivan), Evelyn (McNamara), and Noel, grandchildren, great-grandchildren extended family and a wide circle of friends.

After a joint funeral service at St Michael’s Church, Denmark Street, and laid to rest in Mount St Lawrence Cemetery.
