AN HISTORIC listed building in Limerick City is to get a new lease of life when it reopens as a serviced office space.

The Red Church on the junction of Henry Street and Lower Mallow Street has been taken over by Galway firm Gray Offices, who provide serviced office spaces.

The listed building will be equipped to provide fibre internet, enterprise WiFi networking, and will offer a range of working set-ups, such as separate offices, co-working spaces, and a ‘Landing Pad Space’ in the basement, which will have its own separate entrance.

The investment in the Red Church is expected to create new job opportunities in Limerick by encouraging businesses to set up in the city.

The church was first built in 1901 to take over from the first Presbyterian church on Glentworth Street, and remained in use until the 1970s when the Presbyterian Church in Limerick merged with the Methodist Church and relocated to Christ Church on O’Connell Street.

Since then, the building has had a variety of uses over the years, including as office space for accounting firm Horwath Bastow Charleton.

Rachael Gray, managing director at Gray Offices – who currently host two other locations in Eyre Square and Headford Road in Galway – said that the firm is looking forward to being located on such a prime site in Limerick City.

“We try to create workspaces that inspire productivity and creativity. The Red Church location is a prime example of that. With its captivating design and state-of-the-art amenities, we’re confident that businesses will thrive there.”

As well as offering office space, the building will have a recycling centre and will feature sustainability measures.

The Red Church is expected to open to businesses later this month.
