Pike claim coveted Tuohy Cup

EVAN Patterson scored the only goal of Good Friday’s Tuohy Cup Final involving Pike Rovers and Aisling Annacotty at Jackman Park.

Pike substitute Patterson broke the deadlock ten minutes from the finish, following-up on a fine parried effort by Brian O’Connor from Colm Walsh-O’Loughlin. The win represented a ninth in the coveted competition for The Hoops, who were under the captaincy of Steven McGann.

At half time the Limerick District League generously made a presentation to Milford Hospice and Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association of €1,000 each, the proceeds from the recent friendly game involving Treaty United and a League XI to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the venue.

Meanwhile, the opening semi-final of the McCarthy Insurance Munster Junior Cup, Ballynanty Rovers against Regional United, has been pencilled-in for Jackman Park on Saturday (kick-off 6.30pm). At lunch-time (1pm) on Sunday, the second semi-final, between Fairview Rangers and Newmarket Celtic, will take place at the same venue.

On the senior front, Treaty United – fresh from gaining their first win at the expense of Longford Town 3-2 at the Markets Field – face an arduous trip to Ballybofey to meet Finn Harps in the SSE Airtricty First Division on this Friday night.
