Earls set to join the Munster Rugby 200 Club

Keith Earls is in line to make his 200th appearance for Munster on Saturday.

KEITH Earls will join the ‘200 Club’ when he features for Munster in the upcoming URC outing against Cell C Sharks at The Kings Park Stadium, Durban, on Saturday (5.15pm).

Earls (35) was involved in Munster’s brilliant 26-24 win over Stormers last weekend. It was his first appearance since the thrilling win over Ulster in Belfast on New Year’s Day.

The Moyross man made his debut with Munster against Ospreys in April 2007, amassing 320 points over the years and endearing himself to followers of The Red Army.

Those who have already lined-out on more than 200 occasions for their province include John Ryan, Dave Kilcoyne, Stephen Archer, Billy Holland, Donncha O’Callaghan, Mick O’Driscoll, Marcus Horan, David Wallace, John Hayes, Ronan O’Gara, Peter Stringer, Alan Quinlan, and Anthony Foley.

Ahead of this weekend’s final round of regular fixtures, Munster have already secured a play-off berth following their win over Stormers in Cape Town, a result that also guarantees automatic entry into next season’s Champions Cup.

It was a massive squad effort as reigning champions Stormers were beaten at home for the first time since 2021.

Diarmuid Barron scored a couple tries in the first half with Shane Daly and Gavin Coombes touching down after the break as Jack Crowley (two) and Ben Healy landed conversions to clinch this memorable victory. Peter O’Mahony was named Player-of-the-Match.
