More Ukrainian children attending Limerick schools

THERE were 534 Ukrainian children enrolled in primary and post-primary schools across Limerick City and county during the month of March.

According to the latest figures from the Department of Education, 15,282 Ukrainian pupils have been registered nationally, with an enrolment rate of 90 per cent among children aged five to 18 years old.

A spokesman for the Department said that the figures for Limerick show an increase of 19 Ukrainian pupils, as families continue to come to Ireland seeking an escape from the ongoing war in their homeland.

Clare saw 942 Ukrainian pupils enrolled, while Galway and Cork saw 947 and 1,583 respectively.

Information for parents on accessing school places is available from Gov.ie/Ukraine in both Ukrainian and Russian.
