Anam – Songs for Hearts & Minds is an Other Voices production in partnership with the Office of Public Works bringing intimate performances from beautiful landmarks to the screen every Thursday this May.
This week it is the turn of Desmond Castle in Newcastle West featuring critically acclaimed pop newcomer Nell Mescal (sister of Paul Mescall), Limerick and Ireland’s hip hop royalty God Knows and a show stopping performance from Limerick-based folk trio Kingfishr.
The episode from Desmond Castle was recorded on April 26 last and the limited number of attendees were treated to outstanding performances from all three acts filmed in Desmond Castle Banqueting Hall.
The series will be premiering live sets weekly such as trad sessions with musical pioneers Cormac Begley, Gerry O’Beirne, Billy Mag Fhloinn and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh also Ye Vagabonds, and Anna Mieke coming from the grounds of some of Ireland’s most significant historic sites. The series will also feature songs for the head and heart by cherished songwriters Lisa Hannigan, Paul Noonan and Gemma Hayes.
