A SPECIAL service to remember people who have died at the Milford Care Centre in Castletroy will be held this weekend.

The annual Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving will be held at 3pm on Sunday in Our Lady’s Help of Christians Church. It will be the first event of its kind since 2019 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The event provides a chance to reflect on cherished memories and find comfort in the support of others,” a representative for Milford Care Centre said.

“Families are invited to bring a stone from their home or a special place significant to their loved one, with the option to write their name on it. During the service, each family will have an opportunity to place their stone on the altar or wait until after the ceremony.”

“The stones will serve as a foundation beneath the altar during Christmas and Easter celebrations at Milford Care Centre next year. Following this, the symbolic stones will be placed at the ‘Light up a Memory Tree’, serving as a tribute to the cherished memories of their loved ones.”
