PLANNING approval has been granted for the construction of 25 Build-To-Rent (BTR) apartments in a Limerick City suburb.

Maurice O’Connor and Charles Hanley applied to Limerick City and County Council for permission to demolish an existing two-storey retail building at the Shannonside Kitchens site on St Nessan’s Road in Dooradoyle and replace it with a mixed-use development.

Permission has been granted for a new five-storey mixed use development with a ground floor retail unit, with the upper floors to be used as BTR apartments.

The development will include four studio apartments, ten one-bedroom apartments, and eleven two-beds. Each apartment will also have private balconies.

The upper floors of the unit will have communal use spaces for residents, with secure bike storage on the ground floor.
