Significant council funding given towards Ryder Cup

A SIGNIFICANT amount of money has been allocated from Limerick City and County Council towards the Ryder Cup.

A total of โ‚ฌ500,000 has been been allocated from Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) budgets in 2023 specifically to various Ryder Cup related initiatives, including drafting a public realm plan for Adare and development of the Adare brand.

Up to 2023, โ‚ฌ85,000 had been allocated from LCCC budgets.

This was a response from the local authority to a question at the May meeting of the Adare-Rathkeale Municipal District from Fine Gael councillor Adam Teskey.

Director of Economic Development Gordon Daly explained to Cllr Teskey that the funding is managed by his directorate and will be allocated to the preparation of a Ryder Cup strategy, staffing resources (including Ryder Cup coordinator), and other initiatives including match funding to leverage support for national funding.
