Death of two students mourned across Limerick

Late Limerick students Rory Deegan (left) and Francisco Maxwell De Souza

THE DEATH of two Limerick students has left local and international communities in the city in mourning.

A student of the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) passed while on holiday in Greece, while a Brazilian student studying at Student Campus on Patrick Street in Limerick City died suddenly this week.

The sudden death on Monday of Francisco Maxwell De Souza, a young father living in Carraig Midge, Corbally, with his wife and young son, has shocked the large Limerick Brazilian and South American communities.

TUS student Rory Deegan (22), from Culahill in County Laois, was found unresponsive in the water on Sunday night on the Greek island of Zakynthos.

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it is providing consular assistance to the family.
