Herbal cannabis worth €140,000 seized at Shannon Airport

HERBAL cannabis with an estimated value of €140,000 was seized at Shannon Airport on Thursday last (July 13).

The seizure, according to a statement Revenue, was the result of a risk profiling operation, along with the assistance of Shannon Airport sniffer dog Harley.

According to a Revenue spokesperson, the cannabis haul was discovered in a parcel originating from the Czech Republic and destined for an address in County Tipperary.

Revenue estimated the load to be approximately seven kilogrammes in weight, with a suspected value of around €140,000.

The spokesperson added that investigations into the seizure are “ongoing”.

“These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity. If businesses, or members of the public, have any information, they can contact Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295,” a statement from Revenue said.
