Calls for An Post to return postbox in Castleconnell

SINN Féin Senator Paul Gavan has called on An Post to return the post box that stood for decades in Main Street in Castleconnell.

It was removed when the post office was relocated to Castleview Shopping Centre in February.

“There was absolutely no need for An Post to remove the post box from the centre of our village. That post box used to bring significant numbers of people into the village and add to footfall at the village centre.”

“It was also especially convenient for people going to Mass who could post their letters by just taking a few steps across the road,” Senator Gavan commented.

“The bizarre aspect of this is that the stand for the post box is still there.”
