Only one third of Limerick Warmer Homes applications completed

Independent Ireland TD Richard O'Donoghue speaking in the Dáil.

ONLY around a third of local applicants for the Warmer Homes Scheme have been completed, according to Rural Ireland Independent TD Richard O’Donoghue.

“In a startling revelation obtained from a Parliamentary Question, the inadequacy of the Government’s Warmer Homes Scheme has been laid bare,” he said.

“Out of around 15,000 applications received since February 2022, a mere 5,250 have been completed to the end of May, leaving over six in every ten applicants stranded in uncertainty.”

“In Limerick, there have been in the region of 600 applications and around 200 completitions.”

“Limerick’s budget for such work in the region of €6million, of which two thirds remains unspent. The reality is that the scheme is far from satisfactory and is failing to meet even modest delivery targets,” Deputy O’Donoghue concluded.
