A LIMERICK student has been awarded the Aisling Murphy Scholarship in Research at this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.

Fiana Ní Chonaill from Castleconnell will undertake research exploring the historical harpers and their connection with Limerick and their music which has left an imprint on Limerick’s cultural landscape.

The Aisling Murphy Scholarship was established by Comhaltas to remember the life of 23-year old Aisling Murphy who was killed while out for a run in Tullamore in 2022.

Aisling was a primary school teacher, after graduating from Mary Immaculate College.

Fiana was presented with the scholarship by Aisling’s parents Ray and Kathleen.
