A FIANNA Fáil councillor asked that Limerick City and County Council take a laneway in Newcastle West into its charge at the recent district meeting.

Fianna Fáil councillor Michael Collins has proposed that Limerick City and County Council take in charge and put the laneway from Gortboy to the Desmond Complex in Newcastle West beside the Courtenay School into a safe and usable condition for the people using it.

At this month’s Newcastle West area meeting, Senior Executive Engineer for Limerick City and County Council, John Sheehan, pointed out that the laneway is likely in the ownership of the Department of Education currently, even though it is deemed unregistered on the Land Registry database.
