TUSLA, the state Child and Family Agency, this week officially opened its new premises in Limerick City.

The new centre accommodates the full range of Tusla services, including child protection and welfare, fostering, adoption, and prevention, partnership and family support (PPFS) on its St Joseph’s Campus alongside the HSE.

It will provide offices for staff, meeting rooms, interview rooms and conference room facilities, as well as welcoming consultation rooms for service users.

Tusla says it recognises the importance of young people’s participation in improving its services and so children and young people were invited to have their input heard on the design of the new office space.

The Tusla team collaborated closely with one of its community funded services, Barnardos, who facilitated a group of young people to support with artwork and ensure the voice and influence of the child is at the heart of this new building.

Speaking at the opening event, Tusla Chairperson Pat Rabbitte said: “I am delighted to officially open this office space in Limerick City. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team who work with young people and families right across Limerick and the Mid West.

“This new office space will not only provide a cohesive working environment for each team member, but also a safe and welcoming space for children, young people and families receiving support.”

Dr Caroline Cullen, Regional Chief Officer Tusla Mid West, commented: “We are delighted to officially open St Joseph’s with the support of the Board, CEO, Tusla colleagues, and our HSE colleagues. This space provides a hub not only for our dedicated staff, but also a welcoming space for the children, young people and families we work with.”

“We would like to thank our design team for their work, whose creative vision encompassed our ethos, and a special thank you to the children who provided artwork for the building. We are committed to continuing our work with the children and families of Limerick and are delighted to be doing so from such a fit for purpose and welcoming location.”
