THE First Homes Scheme has been expanded to include those who plan on building their own home.
The scheme, set up to allow first-time buyers to bridge the gap between mortgage, deposit, and homes costs, will now see self-builders eligible to apply, benefitting from up to 30 per cent of the total build cost of their home to add to their self-build mortgage and deposit.
Welcoming the announcement, Limerick TD Niall Collins said: “This expansion will help people in regional locations, like Limerick city and county, where many individuals decide to build their first home rather than purchase a new build.”
