The local authority won the President’s Award at the IPI’s Irish Planning Awards 2023.

Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) were given the award for their ‘Young Person Participation in Land Use Planning’ project, which saw school students get involved in the preparation of the development plan and local area plan processes.

The President’s Award is awarded to projects that highlight the twin focus of the term of office for IPI President Mary MacMahon’s presidency – practice and engagement.

The purpose is to highlight examples of excellent public participation and best practice. It was presented by Mary MacMahon and Kieran O’Donnell, Minister of State with responsibility for Local Government and Planning.
