Shannon Airport sniffer dog Harley aids in €120,000 cannabis seizure

6kg of suspected herbal cannabis was seized at Shannon Airport on Friday.

A SIGNIFICANT drugs seizure was made at Shannon Airport this past week thanks to the help of the airport’s resident sniffer dog Harley.

On Friday (October 13), Harley aided in the seizure of an estimated €120,000 worth of suspected herbal cannabis detected in two separate packages.

The canine, along with Revenue officers using risk-profiling techniques, made the discovery of six kilograms of suspected cannabis.

The packages originated from Switzerland but were destined for an address in Waterford.

A spokesperson for Revenue said that “investigations are ongoing”.

The seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs.
