Mass Rockers Cycle Club going nowhere fast

The Mass Rockers Cycle Club is going nowhere fast, and will be doing so in aid of two charitable causes.

Based in Dromcollogher/Broadford/Tullylease and surrounding parishes, they are taking on the huge challenge of completing an 800km static spin in just 24 hours. And all of it on just one bike.

The spin will raise money for two unbelievable charities who give so much to those who need it most in their hardest hours.

The recipients from this enormous undertaking will be Bru Columbanus in Wilton, Cork and the Friends of St Itas Community Hospital, Newcastle West.

This initiative is as a result of clubmate Niall Flood, who was involved in a serious accident while out cycling last year where he sustained life changing injuries.

Both charities have given “unbelievable support” to Niall, club member, Margaret Culhane said, “and the club would like to show our appreciation”.

The event will take place on Friday October 20 at 5pm in Broadford Enterprise Centre.

“It would be wonderful if as many people as possible could come along and offer the brave lads and ladies their support at any time over the 24hour period,” said Margaret.

Contributions to these worthy causes can be made online through the group’s GoFundMe page or to any club member. Also, a donation box will be available on the day.
