TWO of former inter-county players with Limerick have sadly passed away, namely Vivian Cobbe of St. Patrick’s and Oola’s Joe Meagher.

Mr. Cobbe hurled with Limerick through the 1950’s and 60’s, during which he captured All-Ireland and Munster Junior (1954) and Munster Senior Hurling championship (1955) medals.

He also lined-out with Munster in the Railway Cup, winning two inter-provincial titles.

Mr. Meagher represented Limerick at various levels in football and was goalkeeper on the team which came up just short against Kerry in the 1965 Munster Senior Final at the Gaelic Grounds.

Joe will repose on Friday Ryan & White’s Funeral Home, Pallasgreen from 3pm until 7pm. He will be laid to rest in St Anthony’s Cemetery, Oola on Saturday after 11.30am mass in The Church of the Sacred Heart, Oola.
