Limerick cycling enthusiasts raise over €60,000 for charity

A GROUP of cycling-mad friends from Askeaton recently embarked on a charity cycle from Malin to Hizen Head, raising an impressive €62,000 for two charity groups.

The group of 14 set off on their journey in memory of Lauren McGrath on September 16.

Lauren, who tragically died from cancer aged 16, is the daughter of one of the group members.

Lauren’s dad Niall was the main organiser of the charity cycle.

The cycle raised a total of €62,836 for two charities, namely Little Blue Heroes and Cliona’s Foundation, with both charities receiving €31,418 each.

The trip took five days and covered a mammoth 665km.
