Council questioned over missing cycle lane bollards on O’Connell Street

Social Democrats councillor Elisa O'Donovan.

WHY have cycle lane bollards been removed on O’Connell Street between Roches Street and Cecil Street?

That was the question on the lips of Social Democrats councillor Elisa O’Donovan at a recent Metropolitan District meeting.

Cllr O’Donovan also wanted answers on when these bollards will be reinstated.

Director of Planning Vincent Murray said that these bollards and their associated sockets suffered significant damage from a third party vehicle and were subsequently removed by Shareridge Ltd due to the potential risk they posed to health and safety.

“Replacements of these bollards has been identified on a list of snags to be addressed by the contractor during the defects liability period,” he explained.
