Minister questioned on overspend of Condell Road social homes

A LIMERICK TD has asked the Minister for Local Government about the proposed overspend on a social housing development in the city is.

Sinn Féin TD Maurice Quinlivan asked Minister for Local Government Darragh O’Brien in the Dáil to confirm what the anticipated overspend is for a Limerick Council Part 8 involving building of 43 units on the Condell Road in the city.

In response, Minister O’Brien said that Limerick City and County Council is responsible for the management and operation of the project referred to and for the determination of any budget adjustments that arise, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable contract.

“As is standard practice, once projects of this nature are fully completed, the relevant Council is required to submit a copy of the contract final account and a final budget application, to my Department,” Minister O’Brien explained.
