Limerick darts player in with chance of facing current Masters Champion

William 'The Magpie' O'Connor

A LIMERICK darts player has the chance to face the reigning Masters Champion, if he wins the opening round of the World Championships.

If Limerick’s William ‘The Magpie’ O’Connor (37), as is expected, overcomes Bhav Patel of India in the opening round of the World Championships, he will then face current Masters Champion Chris Dobey (England) in the next stage at Alexandra Palace, London.

Cappamore’s O’Connor, whose first throw is next Wednesday afternoon (December 20), has a current world ranking inside the top 40.

The championship boasts a prize fund of £2.5 million.
