IS getting fit one of your New Year’s resolutions this year? Maybe the gym isn’t your thing, but you’re looking to get more active in other ways, like classes or just simply getting your steps in. A very worthy goal.

Around this time of year, everyone is busy setting up their goals for the year ahead and what better way to stick to a new goal than looking good doing it? There are so many Irish activewear brands that are absolutely killing it in the market at the minute, so why not treat yourself to some new pieces to help motivate your 2024 fitness goals?

Gym + Coffee
This is definitely a brand you’ll have seen around a lot over the past few years. Since it’s founding in 2017, the brand has gone from strength to strength with One Direction superstar Niall Horan now having an investor and advisory role in the company. The brand’s name comes from their belief that exercising and socialising are two of the most important things you can make time for, a great self-care motto I can get behind for the New Year. The brand has a great range of top-quality leggings, sports bras, tracksuits, fleeces, and shorts which don’t compromise on style. There’s even a Gym + Coffee shop right here in Limerick in the Crescent Shopping Centre.

First & Down
This is another Irish activewear brand with a great motto behind it. The brand-new brand was set up in 2023 by Rachel McCormack who, after being diagnosed with anxiety, built the brand on a feel the fear and do it anyway mindset. What I love about this brand is the way their pieces work both inside the gym and outside. Their range of leggings, sports bras, and big t-shirts are perfect if the gym is your main goal this year. They also have a range of tracksuit bottoms and tops perfect for getting out and keeping fit outside the gym. Their stunning cropped fleece and oversized hoodie are perfect if you’re just looking to keep it relaxed and comfortable while also looking stylish. Definitely a new brand worth checking out.

Trendy and Bendy
I love the concept of the Trendy and Bendy brand. Its luxury active and athleisure wear has built in figure enhancing supports, particularly in the tum and bum regions. The brand was set up by Jane Deasy with the aim of providing comfortable and stylish activewear suitable for every woman. The brand has some great pieces ranging from high waisted leggings to hoodies and sweatshirts and t-shirts and tanks. Something that really sticks out about the Trendy and Bendy website is their style bundles where you can buy pre paired outfits. I love how easy this makes shopping and stylish on their website.

Powercut
Powercut launched back in 2019 and has been making waves ever since. The brand has a huge range of all things activewear available on their store in a wide variety of colours. This site is a great option if you’re looking for affordable activewear without compromising on quality. In 2021 the brand opened retail locations in Dunnes Stores in Dublin. The brand now operates five retail locations in Dunnes Stores across the country, including here in Jetland Dunnes Stores.

Gymchic
This brand has an impressive reach on social media and for good reason. The brand was set up in 2020 by Shannon Conlon when she was just 16 and still in secondary school. The impressive teenager started the brand with the aim of making others feel comfortable in the gym. The brand stocks a range of stunning activewear pieces and have loads of matching sets – a real personal gym wear favourite of mine. I love the message behind this brand on top of the beautiful pieces.

The Hike Life
The Hike Life is another great Irish brand for active wear particularly if you’re into getting active outdoors. Set up by former Miss Universe Ireland Rozanna Purcell, the brand comes from the star’s own love and experience with outdoor camping and hiking. The brand features a range of pieces such as windcheater jackets, fleeces, and hats to keep you warm whether you’re out walking or running or camping and hiking. Rozanna has also brought glam to the pieces with vibrant colours and stylish designs.

4th ARQ
This brand has been very popular over the past few years. Founded by internet sensation Rosie Connolly, the brand is known primarily for its beautiful and soft half zip fleeces. The brand, which was founded in 2020 by Rosie and her husband Paul, sells a lot more than just the renowned half zips though. They have a huge range of active wear including leggings, tracksuits, hoodies and jackets available, along with other fashion pieces such as t-shirts, bodysuits, beanies, and caps. This brand has gotten mixing fashion with athletics spot on.
