Councillor questions plans for pedestrian crossing near popular GAA club

Fianna Fáil councillor Joe Pond

FIANNA Fáil councillor Joe Pond asked the Council if it has plans to install a pedestrian crossing near Monaleen GAA pitch on Schoolhouse Road.

This, he said, would allow children and adults safe access to the grounds while crossing this extremely busy road.

Mike Richardson of the Council’s Transportation and Mobility Directorate said they will examine potential funding avenues for a possible pedestrian crossing scheme near Monaleen pitch through a Low Cost safety or Active Travel scheme.

“If a funding application is successful a suitable design and delivery will take place, which will possibly be subject to a Section 38 public consultation and a road safety audit,” he said.
