SPRING is in the air at Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, where Imbolc celebrations, the pagan festival banishing winter gloom, will be marked on February 4.

Visitors will learn to make the iconic Saint Brigid’s Cross, as well as basket-weaving and butter churning.

Native Irish animals, including Droimeann cattle, Irish Wolfhounds, Irish Red Deer, and Tamworth pigs, will be in attendance as part of the park’s work to increase awareness of native Irish breeds.

Members of the Wolfhound Society of Ireland will talk about the dogs of legend while the Clare Vintage and Engine Tractor Club will showcase technology of yore, as well as entertainment for the kids and storytelling from living local legend, Mickey Joe.
