Allen brace helps UL Bohs to Cup win

UL BOHEMIAN are All-Ireland Cup winners following a terrific 34-12 defeat of holders Railway Union at Coolmine, Dublin.

The visitors trailed 12-5 at half-time, but produced a closing-half performance.

Eva McCormack opened Bohs account with a try after the Dublin side took the lead with a converted try.

A brace of tries from Rachel Allen and one each by Laoise McGonagle and Clara Barrett came for UL in the second period. ร‰abhaย Nic Dhonnacha kicked two conversions and a penalty and Allen also added a conversion.

In Division 1A of the Menโ€™s League, Young Munsterโ€™s hopes of finishing in the top four received a major set back as they lost 29-21 away to struggling City of Armagh. Stephen McLoughlin and Shay McCarthy scored tries for the Limerick side and Cian Casey converted both. They were also awarded a penalty try.

Elsewhere, Shannon suffered a heavy 31-5 home defeat by defending champions Terenure College and slipped into the relegation zone. Stephen Kiely scored Shannonโ€™s try.

And, Garryowen moved up to third place in Division 1B after their 20-17 away win at Blackrock College. The Light Blues led 17-0 at half time with two tries from JJ Oโ€™Neill and one by Jeronimo Cipriano. Jack Oliver added one conversion before Blackrock rallied in the second half to level. ย Oliver thrilling won the game for the Light Blues with a late penalty.

In 2A, Old Crescent kept their promotion hopes alive with a 13-10 home win over Greystones. Darragh Oโ€™Brien scored Crescentโ€™s try and Ronan McKenna converted and added two penalties.

In 2C, a late rally by Bruff saw them defeat bottom side Ballina 20-12 at the Mayo venue. Mark Fitzpatrick, Cal McCarthy, and Paul Collins scored tries for Bruff. Collins kicked a penalty and Ethan Anderson a conversion.
