LIMERICK has seen a slight decrease in burglaries over the past 12 months, according to new figures.

The figures, complied from CSO data and released by PhoneWatch, show that there was a four per cent decrease in reported burglaries across the Limerick Garda Division in the past year, in line with an eight per cent decrease nationally.

There was 9,117 burglaries across Ireland in the same period.

According to the figures, 26 per cent of burglars enter through the back door, 24 per cent via back windows, and eight per cent through front windows.

Making sure doors and windows are locked, safeguarding valuables, and considering installing a home security system are some measures recommended by PhoneWatch to ensure homes are kept safe.
