
FOR the third occasion, Mary Immaculate College are Fitzgibbon Cup (Third Level Colleges) champions following an exciting 2-14 to 1-15 defeat of three-in-a-row seeking University of Limerick at Healy Park, Abbeydorney, Kerry.
To the fore with the winners was goalkeeper Jason Gillane (Patrickwell, 1-3), while the starting XV also featured Shane O’Brien of Kilmallock and Na Piarsaigh’s Vince Harrington.
Also part of the squad was Oisín O’Farrell, Askeaton.
Devon Ryan of Tipperary top-scored for Jamie Wall’s side, emerging with 1-4.
Gearóid O’Connor (Tipperary) hit 1-8 for the runners-up, for whom Adam English (Doon), Colin Coughlan (Ballybrown) and Brian O’Grady also contributed scores.

UL were under the care of Brian Ryan, South Liberties.
Wind-supported Mary I led 2-8 to 1-7 at half-time. UL dominated the next quarter to move narrowly ahead, but Mary I finished the stronger to emerge narrow victors.
