A LONG-serving Limerick solicitor has been nominated as a judge to the District Court by the Government. Darach McCarthy, president of the Limerick Solicitor’s Bar Association, and a respected member of the local legal community, was called up as a District Court judge after a long, distinguished career on the other side of the bench.

The Kerry native was appointed following a number of vacancies on the District Court bench across the country.

In Clare, District Court judge Alec Gabbett – formerly of Limerick firm Leahy Reidy – will move from the District Court bench to the Circuit Court.
