Council questioned on cleaning schedule of city streets

Social Democrats councillor Elisa O'Donovan.

SOCIAL Democrats councillor Elisa O’Donovan wanted answers on the cleaning schedule for Newenham Street, Davis Street, and O’Connell Avenue in Limerick City a recent Metropolitan District meeting.

Cllr O’Donovan also requested that these streets be cleaned at least once a week.

She was informed by the local authority that a large road sweeper services Newenham Street, Davis Street, and O’Connell Avenue every morning.

“Litter bins on these streets are emptied on a daily basis,” said Liam Brown of the council’s Roads, Traffic, and Cleansing department.

“A staff member is assigned to litter pick on Newenham Street and Davis Street and other adjacent areas on a daily basis.”
