Garryowen student honoured for top marks in Leaving Cert Applied

Erica O'Donoghue from Garryowen was honoured for achieving top marks in her Leaving Certificate Applied.

“I’M still in shock.”

Those were the words of Garryowen student Erica O’Donogue who was presented with the Feargal Quinn Award at the recent Leaving Certificate Applied National Conference.

The award was presented in recognition of Erica’s outstanding achievement of receiving a 100 per cent Distinction mark in her Leaving Cert Applied programme.

“I never thought I was going to get top marks in my LCA, let alone receive the Feargal Quinn Award,” said Erica, who first left school at the age of 15.

She added: “my LCA results and this award have motivated me and showed that I can achieve things.”
