VILLIERS School in Limerick has been awarded for LGBTQ+ inclusion.

The school was awarded the Belong To LGBTQ+ Quality Mark for its commitment to inclusion.

According to the Belong To organisation, 76 per cent of LGBTQ+ second-level students in Ireland feel unsafe at school.

The schools involved in the LGBTQ+ Quality Mark have worked to create an environment where all students feel safe and supported.

Moninne Griffith, CEO of Belong To, said: “School can be a difficult place for LGBTQ+ students, but that does not have to be the case”
