John Donegan sextet set to play Dolans

John Donegan and band play Dolans on Friday March 15.

Irish pianist John Donegan, though not a household name, boasts a rich musical history, having shared the stage with legends like Art Blakey, Art Farmer, Barney Kissel, and our own jazz luminary, guitarist Louis Stewart. His Irish sextet has been making waves, with Light Streams swiftly following Shadows Linger (Jayde Records, 2022). As they gear up for a third album, Donegan finds himself in a creative renaissance.

The John Donegan Irish Sextet albums have earned widespread acclaim and achieved four-star ratings.

All compositions are originals by Donegan, now based in the UK, featuring a stellar lineup of seasoned Irish jazz veterans: saxophonists Richie and Michael Buckley, trumpeter Linley Hamilton, bassist Dan Bodwell, drummer John Daly, and leader-composer Donegan on piano.

Their upcoming recording session at Camden Studios Dublin in March marks the finale of this sextet format.

Audiences can anticipate a sneak preview, highlighting tracks from Light Streams and Shadows Linger, promising an unforgettable evening of jazz.
