LIMERICK has been warned of possible fallen trees and difficult travel conditions as the latest named storm to hit the country is to touch down on Saturday (April 6).
Storm Kathleen is headed towards Ireland and is expected to make landfall in the early hours of Saturday, according to Met Éireann, who has issued a number of weather warnings ahead of the latest storm.
A Status Yellow warning was issued by the meteorological service this morning for Storm Kathleen, set to be in place across the entire country from 7am on Saturday morning until 8pm the same night.
Limerick is one of the counties included in the Status Yellow warning, with Met Éireann urging caution strong and gusty southerly winds leading to potential fallen trees, difficult travel conditions, debris and loose objects displaced. It also warned of coastal flooding.
A higher warning level, Status Orange, was issued to begin at the same time in counties Cork, Kerry, Galway, and Mayo, with the weather service warning of the potential for power outages and wave overtopping.
A Status Yellow gale warning will be in place across all Irish coasts from 10pm on Friday until 1am on Sunday morning.
