The maestro, renowned for his versatility and innovation, unveils his latest opus, ‘Dreamer’s Motel,’ slated for release in 2024. Building upon the success of his Nonesuch Records debut, ‘Over That Road I’m Bound,’ Cooder delves into uncharted musical territories, perpetually pushing the boundaries of expression. His insatiable quest for new sonic landscapes underscores his unwavering commitment to musical exploration.

Reflecting on his musical upbringing, Cooder shares, “I grew up in a household steeped in Irish music.” With his father, the legendary Ry Cooder, collaborating extensively with luminaries like Paddy Maloney and the Chieftains, Joachim absorbed the essence of Irish music firsthand. He fondly recalls conversations with Paddy Maloney about tracing his Cork ancestry, embodying a pilgrimage of musical discovery.

Cooder’s illustrious career spans over two decades, marked by stellar collaborations and groundbreaking contributions. “Over That Road I’m Bound” showcases Cooder’s ingenuity, reimagining country-music pioneer Uncle Dave Macon’s timeless melodies with his signature instrument, the electric mbira.

Born in Santa Monica in 1976, Joachim Cooder’s musical journey began alongside his father, Ry Cooder, touring and recording with legends like Johnny Cash and Mavis Staples. His recent solo endeavours have garnered widespread acclaim, earning him a Top 10 Album & Single in both the US and UK. With a new solo album slated for release in fall 2024, Cooder continues to chart new musical territories, cementing his status as a visionary artist.
