CAHERDAVIN could be set to get a new medical centre and extra apartments if plans due to come before the council are granted.

Kozamin Properties has signalled its intent to apply to Limerick City and County Council to build a new three-storey medical centre at the Caherdavin Shopping Centre on the Ennis Road, along with 11 new apartments.

The planning notice was advertised in the pages of last week’s Limerick Post.

The plans would see the medical centre and a cafe occupy the ground floor, while the upper two floors will be for residential use.

Eight apartments will be spread over the upper two floors, while an extension to an existing building on the site will see a further three new apartments constructed by the developer.

A new external stairwell will also be built, along with pedestrian access which will link the proposed building with the existing properties on the site.

It is understood that 50 new jobs could be created during the construction phase of the development, along with 50 permanent jobs once the medical centre is operational.
