€80,000 on offer to winner of Kirby Final

A TERRIFIC Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Final, one which boasts a whopping €80,000 for the winning connections, is in prospect at Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday night.

The Stake is sponsored by JP and Noreen McManus, Martinstown, in memory of her late parents of Crecora who were stalwarts of the sport.

In the opening semi-final at the weekend, Knockeen Dazzler from the kennels of young Daniel O’Rahilly (17) from Castleisland, Kerry won in a fast 28.23.

The second semi was claimed by Merits Inclusion (28.31), trained by two-time winner Brendan Matthews of Newry, Down.

Also in the final line-up are Romeo Kingpin, for last year’s winning trainer Graham Holland (Tipperary), Jennifer O’Donnell’s Scooby Pacemaker, Epic Chick for John Kennedy and Phoenix Tyson, Ian Reilly.

The winning GAA club nominator will receive €10,000.

A great support card includes the Final of the Seán O’Connor Memorial Stake.

Kirby Trap Draw: 1 – Romeo Kingpin (Killeedy), 2 – Scooby Pacemaker (Patrickswell Camogie), 3 – Merits Inclusion (Cappamore Camogie), 4 – Epic Chick (Gerald Griffins), 5 -Phoenix Tyson (Ahane), 6 – Knockeen Dazzler (Mountcollins).

Gates open at 6pm, with racing to start at 7.40pm and the Final off at approximately 9pm. Admission is €10 (€5 for OAP/Student), with children free.

There will be DJ in the Markets Field Bar post-racing.
