Support encouraged for Limerick sportsman

Popular Limerick rugby player Seán Rigney.

LIMERICK’S sporting community are being invited to support a local player who underwent major surgery in Australia.

Seán Rigney (Young Munster) wasn’t long in Sydney when he made an impact with Southern Districts RFC.

As noted in a GoFundMe comment: “His impact on the team was immediate, promising a bright season ahead.

It continued: “However, Seán’s journey took an unexpected turn when he fell ill and was hospitalised. Sean’s condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to the urgent need for open-heart surgery.”

The post added: “Seán faces a challenging road to recovery, far from home and family. The financial strain of medical expenses, coupled with the inability to work during his illness and recovery is heartbreaking.
