OVER 470 new homes began construction in Limerick in April.

That’s according to newly released figures by the Department of Housing.

471 new homes began construction in Limerick in April, up from 55 in the same month last year.

Nationally, over 18,000 new homes began construction last month.

Welcoming the announcement, Limerick Minister Niall Collins said that “the data for housing commencements last month shows the progress Fianna Fáil in government is making in tackling the housing crisis.

“The recent continuation of the development levy waiver and Irish Water connection charge rebate shows that we are using every lever at our disposal to tackle housing.”
