EX-GARDA Detective and former mayor Sean Lynch is running in this Friday’s (June 7) local election as an Independent candidate for Limerick City West.
In an open letter to constituents, Mr Lynch, a former Fianna Fáil councillor, said he was dedicated to law and order.
“We have all witnessed a troubling rise in anti-social behaviour, theft, and burglaries across the city and surrounding urban areas,” wrote Mr Lynch, who put in over three decades of service at Roxboro Garda Station.
“Now more than ever, we need strong leadership to turn the tide. Allow me to be your eyes, ears, and voice on the local authority.”
The former mayor said he is “committed to advocating for proactive policing measures that will ensure our streets are safe. At the same time, I will champion restorative justice strategies that focus on rehabilitation and reintegration.”
“The surge in drug use is stretching our community’s boundaries, and its deep connection to mental health issues cannot be ignored. Everyone deserves a chance at redemption, but those intent on causing harm must be confronted decisively.”
Mr Lynch said that anti-social behaviour, theft, and burglaries are key concerns for residents in City West.
“Together, we can effectively tackle these issues and reclaim our community,” the Patrickswell man declared.
“Give me the opportunity to lead Limerick forward, preventing it from slipping back into the shadows of bad publicity. Our city has endured enough. It is time to restore pride and safety in our streets and neighborhoods.”
