THE lifting of a long-standing boil water notice (BWN) in County Limerick draws nearer as works near completion at the Shannon Estuary Water Treatment Plant.

Uisce Éireann have been undertaking works to install a state-of-the-art ultraviolet disinfection unit following the discovery of cryptosporidium in the Foynes Shannon Estuary Pubic Water Supply.

The BWN remains in place at present for those on the supply, as Uisce Éireann implements remedial works as well as upgrades at the plant.

Uisce Éireann’s Duane O’Brien said that the utility “appreciates the continued patience of our customers as we continue working to enable the lifting this Boil Water Notice.
