HOLDERS Na Piarsaigh and Doon are both through to the semi-finals of the Limerick Senior Hurling Championship.
It follows comprehensive weekend wins over Kilmallock and Mungret St Paul’s, respectively.
Na Piarsaigh were surprisingly easy victors over respected Kilmallock, 1-26 to 1-17, in Doon.
For the victors, Ronan Lynch delivered an outstanding performance, contributing a chunky 0-13, including one from a spectacular sideline cut. Conor Boylan (0-5) and David Dempsey (1-2) were other notable scorers for the defending kingpins.
Although beaten, Kilmallock are still assured of a quarter-final position.
Doon remain unbeaten from four starts, and the latest victory was a routine 5-21 to 0-18 defeat of now relegated Mungret St Paul’s at Fitzgerald Park, Kilmallock.
A useful knack of goal-scoring was key to the outcome, and those three-pointers arrived through Adam English, Chris Thomas, Barry Murphy, Darragh Stapleton and Eddie Stokes.
The remaining quarter-final slot from Group One will be filled by either Ahane or Doon, who clash next weekend.
In Group Two, from which just two teams advance, Adare belied their rank-outsiders tag to stun leaders Ballybrown, 3-22 to 2-17, at Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale. County captain Declan Hannon was in fine fettle, and top-scored with a hugely impressive 1-11.
Elsewhere, Kildimo-Pallaskenry and South Liberties tied at 1-12 apiece in Clarina and Monlaeen inched closer to the knock-out stages with a quality 2-20 to 1-14 success against in Cappamore.
The final round of group fixtures are listed for the weekend after next.
