GARDAÍ and emergency services are currently undergoing a rescue operation to recover a man in the River Shannon this Monday afternoon (October 21).
It is understood that the man was seen entering the water close to Shannon Bridge at around 3.30pm this afternoon.
A large number of Garda personnel and paramedics from the National Ambulance Service are on the scene at Steamboat Quay, while the Search and Rescue helicopter could be seen flying low over the river.
The search for the man is ongoing.
