‘VEGGIE Viking’ Gerben Uunk has announced his candidacy for the upcoming general election in the County Limerick constituency.
A recent candidate in the inaugural Limerick mayoral election, where he earned 700 first preference votes, Mr Uunk says he wants to be a “voice for the voiceless, including animals, people, and the planet, to begin with in the Treaty County”.
He is standing for election on behalf of the Party for Animal Welfare.
As part of a 10-point election manifesto, Mr Uunk has called for an end to sulky racing, with all sulky carts confiscated and the horses used for racing them surrendered to an appropriate shelter.
